So, before I retire to sleep on this early Christmas Eve so I make sure I get myself up and excited for Giants-Jets in the morning, I would be remiss without noting it’s Chi Phi’s Founder’s Day.
Now for most of my followers - cool story, bro. But for me, Chi Phi has done something no other organization has in the past 19 years of my life. I literally feel my life has improved because of the 100+ men that I have had the privilege of calling brother in the past 1.5 years.
People think fraternities are drinking clubs, and sometimes they’re absolutely right. Some fraternities are. But for me, Chi Phi’s something more. I’m on winter break - the only thing work I should be doing is catching up on the TV, movies, books, and video games I’ve missed, but every day I find myself doing something for the fraternity. Why?
I feel compelled to. Not because I need the approval of my brothers (I know I’ve earned it) or because I’m a workaholic, but because I want to make this organization the best possible representation of the organization men founded 187 years ago today at Princeton. I want to make my chapter represent our founders. I want my chapter to breed better men.
I salute those who made the courageous decision 187 years ago to begin Greek life as we know it in the United States by founding Chi Phi. I cannot thank you enough for the impact you’ve made on my life and those of my brothers. I truly consider myself a better man.
